An Introduction

He loves her
Has always loved her
Had His eye on her from the very beginning
Whatever she does interests Him
Wherever she goes
He's there vying for her attention
But she's only vaguely aware of His existence
And He's much too polite to be assertive
So patiently He waits
Longing for an introduction
You've known Him a long time
All you know about her is 'how much He loves her'
And 'how much she needs Him'
You're so excited about getting them together
You want to walk right up to her and tell her all about Him
You want to encourage her to make her life with Him
That's your agenda
Not His
So first, you and she become friends
And she senses 'something' in you that's 'missing' in her
Suddenly, resounding in your laughter she discovers it
Joy
Pure joy
Joy in Jesus
Jesus in you
His strength in your weakness
His peace amidst your pain
Through you she catches a glimpse of Him
And to your amazement
Pleads for an introduction

Copyright 2003/Peggy Bryan Harris

The one sensing something missing in herself was me.  My baby-sitter was recently divorced, working two jobs to make ends meet while raising three small children.  As we became friends I couldn't help notice the contrast between the two of us.  She had so many reasons to be unhappy but she wasn't.  Jesus was her joy.  You've heard the saying, "too blessed to be stressed?"  That was Barbara.  Her faith was inspiring.
I wish I could tell you that we're still close friends.  But she moved away years ago and we eventually lost touch.  Wouldn't it be great if she read this and we could be reunited?
